"I was left feeling like I was a problem"

About: Aberdeen Royal Infirmary / Breast Services

(as the patient),

I went for a breast scan for the second time due to an unidentified lump that had grown bigger.

The member of staff I saw had an awful bedside manner.

They told me the lump was nothing to worry about and that I should already know that.

Despite them not giving any hint as to what the lump could be or what is causing it.

They then scolded me, saying I should know my own body and not to come back with this issue as it's wasting their time.

They then proceeded to stay in the room while I had to redress and had a casual conversation with the nurse.

Highly unprofessional. I was left feeling like I was a problem.

I've never gone back to any GP about the issue again.

Good morning pepperze86

I am very sorry to read of your experience when you had your breast scan which made you feel upset, vulnerable and disrespected during your appointment. This is not how I would wish our patients to feel and I would be grateful if you could email your details (name, address, date of birth, contact details) to the below, so I can contact you to discuss and investigate.

gram.breastop@nhs.scot

Kind regards

Sarah
