I accompanied my mother to her dermatology appointment at the Glasgow royal infirmary. She suffers from dementia so I accompany her to all her hospital appointments.
Parking was difficult and then we struggled to find the Wallace building meaning we were over 20 minutes late to her appointment.
We were taken immediately and seen by Dr Daniel. Dr Daniel greeted us with a smile and was so caring towards my mum. We didn't feel rushed and he took time to explain her condition and how it can be improved. Mum is anxious in hospitals owing to a long stay and is always worried she will be left on a ward after an appointment! She was put at ease by Dr Daniel and he also spoke to me and asked if I had anything to add or any questions, this is the first time a doctor has done this in all of my mums appointments!
He explained her condition and gave us a helpful leaflet, he also explained the treatment and how it would get worse before it improved. I'm delighted to say her skin is in a much better state now (and it did get worse before we saw this improvement!) Had he not explained this I'm sure we would have given up early on.
Mum left with a smile on her face and relaxed which made it all the easier for me.
I have nothing but positive things to say about our appointment.
