"Staff should be more aware of tone and body language"

About: Causeway Hospital / Radiology

(as a relative),

Husband went for CT scan in radiology, unable to walk as he was in his final days of life and was being lifted and moved by myself. Upon completion of the scan the radiographer told my husband to get up. I replied he would if he could, but there was no compassion or empathy. Staff member was very robotic, did not offer to help with my husband. Unfortunately he passed 3 days later. I feel staff should be more aware of tone and body language when dealing with patients, especially those in final days of life.

Dear Stazn44, firstly please accept my condolences on the loss of your husband. I am very sorry that he was not treated with empathy and compassion when he attended for his CT scan as this is not the standard of service we would expect from our staff. I will ensure that staff are made aware of your feedback but if you like us to look more formally into your husband's experience please contact the Trust using the Service User Feedback form that can be found on the NHSCT website under "Get in Touch".

Kind regards,

Rebecca
