"Kindness and prompt treatment"

About: Victoria Hospital / Rapid Access and Discharge

(as a relative),

My husband was sent into hospital with (?)small stroke by general practitioner and was admitted to the rapid triage unit.

He was diagnosed settled in a recliner chair and we were allowed in.

Nurses were very reassuring and tests were carried out speedily.

Told what was happening at all times.

Instead of spending hours in A&E we were discharged home after four hours  having had a CT and been seen by the doctor.

Awaiting MRI as an outpatient.

Can’t praise all the staff enough for their kindness and prompt treatment.

Dear scoreboardts37

My name is Siobhan McIlroy and I am the Head of Patient Experience. NHS Fife welcomes all feedback, so thank you for taking the time to post on Care Opinion. I am sorry for the delay in you receiving a response.

It must have been very frightening for you all when your husband was sent to hospital with a suspected stroke. I am pleased when he arrived in the Rapid Access and Discharge Unit he was made to feel comfortable and was reassured by staff and prompt testing.

I am glad you were kept up to date with what was happening. Communication is key and this helps to alleviate anxiety as coming into hospital can be stressful enough.

Discharged after 4 hours and having had a CT scan is amazing!!! What a fantastic service! I hope you have your MRI soon.

I am sure the team will be delighted with your feedback, knowing they are part of a fantastic service and being able to make your experience positive.

I hope you are keeping well and thank you again for sharing your story. Best wishes and take care, Siobhan
