"Me and my baby's best interests at heart at all times"

About: Inverurie Hospital / Midwifery Scottish Ambulance Service / Emergency Ambulance

(as the patient),

I recently gave birth to my 3rd child after a gap of 11 years. This was my first baby born in Scotland and I was under the care of the Inverurie Midwife Team.

I was adamant I wanted a home birth and the team were fully supportive of this despite being an older pregnancy. The care and bedside manner of the team was lovely and I felt I was treated with respect and with me and my baby’s best interests at heart at all times. The support with the home birth kits and arrangements were great too.

Baby had other plans for his arrival though. He was freebirthed at home within an hour of returning home from a scan after a 30 minute labour, without any medical presence. However on arrival both the ambulance crew and midwife were extremely efficient and diligent. I also feel their ongoing support helped me to feel confident in the situation and as such I had a very positive birth experience and both pre and post natal care experience too. Thank you!
