"Urgent detox for an emergency procedure"

About: Greater Manchester Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust / Addiction services

(as a service user),

I needed an urgent place at Chapman Barker ahead of an emergency procedure in hospital, before I could have the procedure I would need a 2 weeks detox, due to an alcohol addiction, yes I’m an alcoholic. Chapman Barker did their utmost no doubt to get me a bed , I must say I was very anxious and not mentally ready for the admission but had to be done,

I have to say after the first 10 minutes on arrival I felt at ease, the staff are second to none, the other service users made me feel at ease and showed me the ropes, this put me at ease. The rooms were clean, beds comfortable and observations done professionally and regularly, medication is prescribed professionally and orderly. AA and NA meetings are available daily, also acupuncture which is amazing by Jackie, all staff are so caring and attentive.

My stay lasted only 9 days not the full 2 weeks, as I felt absolutely amazing and I not done for a long time. I have returned to work for few days a week and have control of myself for the first time in a long time, also the other service users got me through a tough few days all looking out and caring for each other. Chapman Barker I salute you, big up to the NHS.
