"The communication, attention and care was exceptional"

About: Queen's Hospital / Accident & emergency Queen's Hospital / Paediatrics South Central Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust / Emergency ambulance

(as a relative),

My grand daughter, less than a year old (pre term), was staying with us in Essex following discharge from Basingstoke the previous weekend with bronchiolitis. She was violently coughing and unable to inhale.

We called the ambulance and were transported to Children's A&E where we spent the night as her condition was difficult to stabilise. Ambulance staff were excellent and reassuring. The communication, attention and care in A&E was exceptional.

We were then in Tropical Lagoon ward and the quality of care was replicated there.

I have been nursing for over 40 years and I understand from inside the challenges we face but I've been blown away by just how prestige Children's services are at Queens.  If we could replicate that model in adult services   we would surely never be on the receiving end of a complaint.

Please escalate to the Head of those services.
