"Accessing in-person mental health care"

About: St John's Hospital / Adult Mental Health West Lothian Health & Social Care Partnership

(as a parent/guardian),

My daughter has been referred for help from adult mental health. She is autistic and diagnosed with ADHD and has been having seizures and hallucinations.

She has been seen in person by child mental health all her life but they lost her records when she was transferred to adult mental health and a year later has assigned us to a Dr from a private hospital in London even though we are based in Livingston Scotland.

This Dr will only see my daughter online and their technology is very glitchy. All of this is making my daughter more ill and when we asked for an in-person meeting we were told it is too much too expect them to travel.

When she asked about medication she was also told that if she was insistent on an in-person appointment that would be delayed.  We are heartbroken for her and the lack of care by NHS Lothian.

Dear Fiona381,

Thank you for your feedback on Care Opinion regarding the Adult Mental Health team within NHS Lothian. I am very sorry that you and your daughter have experienced such an anxious and frustrating time, with the issues around medication and a face-to-face appointment.

Please be assured that your feedback has been shared with Senior Management responsible for the Adult Mental Health team in West Lothian.

Best wishes,

Claire
