"My recovery has been much easier and faster than I would have believed possible"

About: Intermediate and Transitional Care / Community Rehabilitation Team

(as the patient),

I came out of hospital after 10 days in the Major Trauma Unit with a fractured clavicle and 3 fractures in my pelvis from a cycling accident.

After a week at home resting, I had my first visit from a physiotherapist and the following week from an occupational therapist. They were both friendly and encouraging and reassured me about how much I could do, while stressing the need to move as much as possible.

I have had three visits from the physiotherapist and two from the occupational therapist and both now feel that I can be signed off, depending on the results of my follow up x-rays.

With their help, my recovery has been much easier and faster than I would have believed possible.

Hi Belcyclist

It sounds like you have been on some journey following your accident. I'm glad you had a positive experience with the team once you were discharged home and you feel you have recovered faster.

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience which I will share with the team.

I wish you all the best with your recovery and hopefully you can get back on the bike soon.
