"Wonderful Surgeon "

About: Hull Royal Infirmary

I was referred to Mr a j on the 2 week pathway. I was highly anxious at my first appointment. His manner was calm, direct and reassuring in this difficult situation. Results thankfully were non malignant. He booked me in quickly for total laparoscopic hysterectomy with bilateral salpingo oophorectomy and adhesiolysis to relieve my ongoing symptoms through open surgery. On surgery day he managed to use keyhole as discussed shortening recovery time considerably which I was thankful for.

I have the utmost faith in him.He is very knowledgable, listening and answering my (many) questions in post op panic calls and in the follow up appointment always approachable nothing ever seeming not suitable to ask. He was prompt in returning histology results to me to reassure and in booking me in for post op discharge to set up much needed HRT. The operation was a success, my quality of life has improved thanks to Mr a j I highly recommend him.

The ward staff were amazing. The anaesthetist explained everything thoroughly. They are understaffed working hard to meet everyone’s needs. I would have liked to stayed one more night, the surgeon said I could but I felt it was not an option with ward staff due to staffing levels.

Overall my care at Hri in the Woman and Children’s department was very good from diagnosis to post op consultation and beyond. Thank you to all the staff - you all work so hard.
