"Staff were inundated but friendly and empathetic"

About: Royal Belfast Hospital for Sick children / Emergency Department

(as a parent/guardian),

I brought my daughter to be checked over in RBHSC A&E after she sustained a blow to the head in school and was showing symptoms of concussion.

We were there for 6 hours. It felt longer than that with an uncomfortable child, on uncomfortable chairs in a loud, cold foyer. Despite the poor waiting facilities I want to applaud the staff and service. A 6 hour turn around to get a thorough assessment, receive CT brain and discharged home was pretty impressive. The staff were inundated. Despite that, they were friendly and empathetic from receptionist to nursing staff to radiography. Particular thanks must go to Dr Roisin. She was meticulous, clear and reassuring.

I am home with a stunned child but thanks to all the staff and Dr Roisin I am a mum who has peace of mind. Thank you for all your hard work.
