"I cannot praise the staff enough"

About: Maternity care / Ward 45 ( antenatal) Maternity care / Ward 46 (post-natal) Maternity care / Ward 48 (labour ward) Western Health & Social Care Trust / Community Midwifery Services

(as a service user),

I was admitted to Altnagelvin for a planned induction. Naturally I was very nervous, particularly as this was my first pregnancy, and I had no idea what to expect.

Honestly I can not praise the staff enough, from the Antenatal, Labour and Postnatal wards. The care I received was exceptional, from all the midwives, health care assistants and support workers. I felt really involved in all decisions that were made in regards to the care I received, and can honestly say I had such a positive experience throughout my stay in Altnagelvin.

When we were discharged, our care was taken over by the community midwives based in Shantallow health centre. Again, the care we received was amazing. Although our breast feeding journey hasn't been a straight forward one, the care and support we have received from the community midwives and support workers, infant feeding lead, and tongue tie clinic, has been outstanding and has enabled us to continue our breast feeding journey.

A massive thank you, from our new wee family! We will be forever grateful in bringing our new baby safely into this world, and the care we have received since!

First time mum. Firstly congratulations on the birth of your baby. Thank you so much for taking the time out of your busy day to share your recent experience. I will pass on your kind words to all the midwives and support workers in Shantallow Health Centre.

May we send you and your new wee family our best wishes for the days and weeks ahead.
