"Attitude of doctor"

About: General practices in Ayrshire & Arran

(as a service user),

I have been unwell for almost two weeks with a heavy chest. I left it in case it was viral and waited for it to pass. Two weeks nearly pass it I still feel unwell so I contacted my GP to ask for them to listen to my chest in case I need steroids or antibiotics.

I work full time and happened to be off the mainland at a job when the doctor called me. They told me unless I could make it by 12 I couldn’t be seen and would need to wait till the next eek. I explained I work and can’t get the ferry back until the afternoon. They then proceeded to ask me multiple questions about why I left to go to work, what time did I get the ferry over, all types of questions that have got nothing to do with them or the fact that I need an appointment as I am unwell. I found their attitude condescending.

GPS need to realise people that work full time need to be seen outwith the strict 9-12 appt times. This doctor's attitude was awful. It’s not the first time I have felt belittled by them.

Dear MrT1982

Thank you for sharing your feedback with us via Care Opinion. I am so sorry to hear of the difficulties you have faced in getting an appointment at your GP Surgery and that you have experienced poor attitudes from staff members.

I really appreciate you taking the time to share your experience. I am so very sorry it has not been positive on this occasion and that you have felt belittled by staff members.

Kind regards

Danielle
