My daughter unfortunately had a serious accident at school where she lost consciousness, had a suspected seizure acquiring a head injury and facial injuries.
My daughter was brought into the Emergency Department by ambulance where I waited to meet her.
Straight away we were very lucky to be given a cubicle in treatments for my daughter.
The Senior Charge Nurse was visible in the department and was very helpful when I attended the department to see if my daughter had arrived and passed us when she did arrive checking if we were okay.
All staff were polite and courteous and My daughter had numerous visits from all disciplines of staff from Health Care Support Workers, to Staff Nurses and Medical staff.
The late shift domestics could not do enough for us making sure my daughter was hydrated and offering us macaroni as we waited.
Healthcare staff also regularly offering us drinks and cups of tea with biscuits.
The portering staff were pleasant, talking away to my daughter, and X-ray were also excellent when my daughter attended CT.
As a healthcare worker myself, I am very aware of how busy the ED department can be and also aware they often receive a lot of bad press due to situations out of their control due to lack of assessment space, extended waiting times.
I was very impressed from start to finish and felt the care and treatment my daughter received was first class, every member of staff were exceptional in the department and all team members were so professional.
I am very grateful and myself and my daughter want to say a massive thank you to all the hard working staff in the ED department.
I cannot praise you all enough! You deserve positive feedback for the work you do every day and night.
