"Thank you isn't really good enough"

About: Royal Surrey County Hospital

I returned from France to the UK 8.5 months into my pregnancy and my care was picked up by this hospital with absolutely no problems. I was extremely nervous to be using a UK hospital after losing my dad a couple of years back. From the moment we first walked through the doors the experience here has been outstanding.

When we walked in for our first appointment we had no idea where to go and were quickly met by a volunteer who walked us to where we needed to be and chatted to us all the way there.

At the reception of the Anti-natal clinic they are amazing, in particular there is a lady who was always on the right hand side of the reception desk who is always so smiley, friendly and helpful. We had a couple of small experiences with a lady there from Sri Lanka (we didn't get her name) and she was fabulous, so smiley and joyful. We then needed to go to St Catherines ward and wow, from the moment we arrived we have been amazed by everyone we have met. It was approximately 2 weeks from my first appointment to me giving birth to our beautiful daughter and due to some blood pressure issues we met many people and I am so grateful to each and every one of them. There are a few names in particular of people who either helped more than once or stood out but we honestly were blown away by the whole team throughout the hospital. At one point my mum got herself a bit lost and having realised how amazing every person at the hospital is she went with the tactic of standing for a moment looking lost in the hope someone would help her and straight away someone who looked like they were just finishing work saw her and offered help! She is now trying to find me a job at the hospital when my maternity finishes!!

Every time we have been walking around, in a lift, on the end of the phone to some one or being seen by people we have had the most positive experiences.

I felt like I was the only patient that the team there had to deal with, I always felt like I was their priority even though they were clearly always busy with plenty to do. What an amazing set of people you have there.

My experience at this hospital has left me so blown away that everyone who has asked about the birth has had to hear my run down of my experiences at this hospital. I am thinking of having another baby just so I can be treated there again!

Dear Paula,

Thank you for sending us your lovely feedback message. We have passed it on to the staff in Maternity Services who will be very appreciative of your kind words and appreciation. It is always very valuable to hear from patients regarding their experiences and it is wonderful to read how staff around the hospital have gone over and above to help you and your family.

We wish you all the very best for the future.

With kind regards from the Patient Experience Team
