My dad was made end of life in March of this year. We had lengthy discussions as a family with my dad a while ago about what he wanted when the time came.
He developed sepsis and after discussion with medical staff, my dad was made end of life.
Unfortunately my dad fought very hard and did not pass until early April.
However, the care and compassion shown by every single member of staff in ward 15 of Hairmyres Hospital was above and beyond what anyone could have expected - and this was not only for my dad.
They allowed my brother and myself to stay with my dad 24 hours a day until he passed. They never made us feel a nuisance or additional burden, and could not have done enough for us.
It was such a horrendous time for my family, but the staff in ward 15 made that time a little easier. We will always remember this and be so grateful.
