I went into labour at Aberdeen Maternity Hospital and literally within 1 hour of arriving I got news that my grandmother who helped raise me passed.
Staff not only had to deal with someone who was distressed at a long and very painful latent labour and no sleep, this added on more pressure to help keep me calm and help the labour progress.
The staff were honestly a class act every step of the way, from triage, to anaesthetists, to surgery, midwives and nurses and paediatrics. Once born my son had an infection detected early and we had to remain on the ward. Day and night staff were there for us providing much needed support and answering any questions I had, and helping me with feeding issues that cropped up.
I wish there was more I could do to acknowledge the amazing care I had, I have also submitted feedback to the Grampian NHS website. Truly the staff at Aberdeen Maternity are a credit to the NHS.
"Amazing care"
