My husband and I were away on holiday in Spain when our son became unwell with suspected appendicitis.
My mum acted quickly and he was referred to PAU then admitted to Oak ward. Staff were so kind and caring towards my Mum and our son in the knowledge we couldn’t be with him.
On our return they were very efficient, informative, kind and caring towards our family. Our son had surgery and the process was so smooth and efficient, I almost couldn’t believe it.
There was a lovely ward Sister called Ally I think (I’m not good with names), she could not do enough for us, also Emmanuel the HCA was so attentive and recognised my emotions. He gave me his time just to talk.
I would also like the recovery nurse, who I think was called Caz, to be recognised for being so lovely. I had arrived home from holiday gone straight to the hospital and before I knew it I was waiting in a corridor for our son to come out of theatre, exhausted, emotional and scared. She made me feel so welcome and reassured, she had the best bedside manner, it made me proud to be a nurse myself.
We returned to the ward and everyone was so friendly and welcoming, it made a really scary time so much more pleasant.
