"Visual impairment"

About: Golden Jubilee National Hospital / Ophthalmology Outpatients

(as a carer),

I am sending this feedback on behalf of a relative who due to visual impairment is not able to do so themselves.  I am supporting them with navigating the treatment pathways for cataract surgery that their optometrist has deemed they need (having ruled out that deterioration in sight is related to the development of diabetes, which it is not).

The website is great but it is not clear what the criteria are for referral to to state of the art eye centre, or whether patients can ask to be referred there.

Can someone please provide a link to this information and give an indication of what the current waiting time is for patients being referred for cataract surgery (if indeed a patient can ask to be referred to the team at the hospital).

Thank you
