It appears the practice has gone from compassionate to corporate with very unhelpful and bordering on rude reception staff
The triage the practice followed does not allow for the patient’s current poor health and their new problem that usually results in a rejection regarding an appointment
We were advised to go across the county to use a minor injury walk in centre for an elderly patient with an upper respiratory tract infection. This patient has multiple chronic illnesses
After several problems with obtaining an appointment we were rejected once more with a text telling us it would be unsafe to give an appointment
Fortunately 111 responded well and after another 20 mile round trip our out of hours service give an effective treatment
We have a surgery a few hundred yards from our front door
Perhaps the practice should at least go back to a telephone consultation and give the patient a more comprehensive triage with appropriate questions given to the patient by a healthcare professional with view more precise diagnosis
Having the door continually closed in your face is no way to treat your patients
"From poor service to no service"
