"Fear of blood tests"

About: General practices in Lothian

(as a parent/guardian),

My son has type 1 diabetes and needs routine bloods every few months. Due to his fear we weren't able to get these bloods done for quite a long time. With the help of Claire showing him how the bloods are done and letting him practise on a fake arm he managed to get his blood test done! I will forever thankful for Claire's help. She truly is a star.

Dear Mum of a type 1,

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience. It sounds as if Claire really helped to reassure and relax your son. I am glad he was then able to have his bloods taken and hopefully felt happier about the situation at this time.

Most GP practices within NHS Lothian are independent contractors and therefore not overseen by NHS Lothian Patient Experience Team. To ensure the GP practice receives your positive feedback can I ask you to liaise directly with your Practice manager. I'm sure Claire and the team would be delighted to receive the feedback.

Best wishes,

Claire
