"Hard working staff made knee replacement go smoothly"

About: Trauma & orthopaedics / Orthopaedic National Treatment Centre

(as the patient),

From pre-med appointment to discharge the care and treatment from every member of staff could not have been better. The pre assessment went well each team member giving good advice while the tests went on.

Admission was smooth on operation day again each member of staff was very empathetic. The consultant took time to explain every aspect as did the registrar. The nursing staff were very good at reassurance.

When taken down to theatre the attention given by Gillian was fantastic, explaining each step and making me relax. Setting up the music and having chosen to watch the operation the gent who set this up ensured it was in a good position for me. All went smoothly. After care in the recovery was excellent with warm blankets and reassurance as I had difficulty in stopping shaking. Soon stopped and back to the ward.

The nursing staff are so calm nothing seemed too much trouble. Great advice on pain relief and the attention through the night was excellent. Physio, x-ray, OT staff worked hard and made each aspect go with ease. Getting medication to go home all went smoothly. I can’t praise the staff enough.

Good afternoon GBN,

Thank you for taking time to post your feedback in Care Opinion.

I am very pleased that all aspects of your orthopaedic journey was a positive experience and while you were in the ward you felt reassured. Communication is pivotal and it is evident that this was provided from all members of the wider multi disciplinary team.

Best wishes with your continued recovery

Lorna and the NTC Team
