"Doc has been a great support to me and my family"

About: Community Adult Learning Disability Team (Larne/Carrick/Newtownabbey) Learning Disability Community Services / Day Opportunities

(as a service user),

After leaving school I decided college wasn't for me and my social worker referred me to the day opportunities programme.

Sarah has been my doc from the start of my journey with day opps. I volunteer 2 days a week and I attend Newtown Abbey Base 2 days a week, both monitored by my doc Sarah. Recently I have been referred to supported employment and am at the job searching stage which I am very excited about. I feel Sarah has been a great support to me and my family and I am really happy to be a part of the day opportunities programme and love all my opportunities.

Hi izarmd48

Thank you for taking the time to write your lovely comments about your experiences with the Day Opportunities Service and the support of Sarah your Day Opportunities Coordinator (DOC). Its a difficult time not sure what to do leaving school so I'm pleased when college didn't work out for you that a referral was made by your social worker to our Programme and really pleased you have a busy week with volunteering and recreational opportunities over 4 days. Good luck with the job search that's exciting.

Thank You

Garth (Head of Service; Day Opportunities)
