Maternity. Lovely experience when in the labour ward, however once I had given birth via c-section and was on the postnatal ward I was appalled by the care I received. I couldn’t wait to get home. In immense pain, given paracetamol for the pain and asked if there was anything stronger I could have. The two doctors scoffed at me and said “we are not midwives” as if I should have known. Asked a midwife who said with a disgusted look on her face that she would have to ask the doctors as I was on the highest pain medication.
Asked for any support breastfeeding and was fobbed off, and then stared at whilst my screaming baby tried to latch and then the midwife walked away. Was told to hide the formula so that I wasn’t ‘tempted’ to give it to my baby. Absolutely appalling.
Last place I would want to be if I was unwell unfortunately, terrible experience for the postnatal part. Thank goodness we had a wonderful midwife throughout the experience leading up to the c-section.
"Disappointing experience"
