"Telephone appointment"

About: Pilgrim Hospital / Trauma and orthopaedics

(as a service user),

My telephone appointment was scheduled in for 10:40. This was booked two weeks in advance and I stated on the phone that I would be in meetings that afternoon so it would have to be in the morning. I made sure I was available to take the call and did not receive a call.

I eventually received the call at 12:40. I struggled to understand the consultant. There was no apology for the delay and the conusltant did not even ask me to confirm my details before proceeding with the call, they could have been giving my results to anyone.

I could not understand anything the consultant was saying and eventually had to end the call because I couldn't understand them.

Good evening,

I am the deputy sister for fracture clinic and feel disappointed to read about your experience.

We aim to provide a high standard of care and I can only apologise that in this instance that the standard was below this.

If you would like to contact me then I would be happy to discuss this further with you.

Best wishes

Dear Tha94

We apologise for any negative experience you encountered whilst using our service. We do always endeavour to keep to the times that are given for telephone appointments. However, as we have mixed telephone and face to face consultations, sometimes delays do happen that are out of our control.

I will communicate to all clinicians that details should be checked before proceeding with the consultation. If you would like to contact the admin team, we will happily make you a further appointment with another clinician, so you fully understand regarding your results and next steps in your treatment plan if required.

Please contact Michelle Holland at PHB on 01205 446445

Regards

Carly
