"Professional & Caring Nurse"

I recently attended Ninewells Hospital, Area 6 outpatients for a short synacthen test. The Nurse, Agnieszka, provided me with excellent patient care throughout my appointment. Explaining everything that was to happen to myself whilst also teaching a student nurse who was shadowing.

I'm not the easiest person to cannulate, not because of fear of needles or anything, but my veins like to go into hiding. This has resulted in cancellation of previous tests before so I was slightly anxious. Agnieszka took plenty of time assessing for a vein before attempting. With a very calm and positive attitude and also being organised Agnieszka had success first time.

The test then went ahead without any issues. Agnieszka and I talked whilst I had to wait between getting the blood samples and this kept me relaxed and not thinking about what the results might show. The simple factor of taking time and having a caring approach certainly makes all the difference.

 I felt it wasn't just a job for Agnieszka but a vocation. A credit to NHS Tayside.
