"Poor pharmacy service"

About: Penistone Group Pms Practice

I have previously been unimpressed with the way I have been treated by pharmacy staff. When I asked if the buzzer worked as no-one seemed to be responding, I was told “if it worked, we’d never get anything done”. When I asked how service users were supposed to alert staff they were waiting if it doesn’t work, I was told “just shout”. Also, I am offended by being continually asked “what’s your exemption” when collecting medication. I don’t have one, I pay for my prescriptions.

On this occasion, I checked my Patient Access account this morning and saw that my medication order had been approved by the GP and was ready to collect. I went to the practice pharmacy and was told to come back tomorrow. I said I had had a notification that it was approved and ready for collection (I have a screen shot of this) and was told “no, you’ve had a notification that we’ve accepted it for processing”. I repeated what is shown on my Patient Access account and the assistant shook her head all the time I was speaking and started to tell me what, in her opinion, I had actually seen. I told her I work in the NHS (I am an Information Governance Manager/ Data Protection Officer) and I understand how shared access systems work, and I have proof of what I saw. I was told it wasn’t ready. I asked for a emergency prescription for two items: I need to visit again for these later and again for the remaining items tomorrow, so three visits in all.
