Appointment for Hysteroscopy

I Felt incredibly anxious about my visit for a Hysteroscopy examination and at one point I considered not going!!!..but the whole experience was made incredibly easy by the care and attentiveness of the Perth Royal Infirmary Gynaecology team…

I was eased into the appointment with a chat about where I was with menopause and the things that were happening with me as I have felt out on a limb for some time in this next chapter of my womanhood, I wasn’t sure if I was on the correct HRT and what my options were and was so reassured to hear that this was definitely something the team would help me with, just knowing that took the fear from what has been such a rollercoaster and gave me the hope and reassurance of what the investigation was really about!!.. I took the pain relief as directed and accepted the local anaesthetic, was really glad that I did as this helped keep pain and cramping to a minimum, the procedure went really quickly and I also decided to try the mirena coil as the progesterone option of my HRT as this was something I was really struggling with, and I can honestly say that 4 days in my head feels lighter already!!.. 

After the procedure the team were with me ensuring I was properly ready to go home, I am not the best with needles and a bit of a fainter so I did give them a bit of grief (unintentionally of course) but I can honestly say that the team were amazing and I want to thank Sarah and the whole team so much for their attentiveness it made what I thought was going to be a daunting experience quite the opposite. I have come away with a full MOT and feel I’m now equipped the best I can be for me at the moment for this next chapter. If I can give some advice don’t trawl the internet as there is a lot of negative out there!!
