"Staff who were kind, compassionate, caring & listened"

About: Dumfries & Galloway Royal Infirmary / Ear, Nose & Throat

(as a service user),

I was admitted for elective ENT surgery today. The surgeon, Miss Botman & the anaesthetist, Mr Christie, were lovely. They took time to listen to my worries & anxieties about the surgery, particularly in relation to my diabetes control & my post op care instructions in relation to looking after my 2 young children once I went home. They didn't try to rush me, explaining my concerns & were empathetic when I asked if I could have my glasses immediately after I woke up.

Joan, HCSW, also walked with me to the theatre room when they were ready for me & made me feel at ease & again, listened to me when I asked to go to the toilet. Sometimes it's the small simple things that make a difference & the team today were wonderful.

Dear Jayn,

Thank you for taking the time to share your positive feedback with us. We greatly appreciate it.

This is great feedback for our staff members to receive and I can confirm that I have shared this feedback with the appropriate staff members who were involved with your care.

It is wonderful to hear that our staff made you feel at ease, listened to any concerns you had and showed you empathy during what I can imagine was an anxious time.

Thank you again for your feedback and we wish you a speedy recovery.

Kind regards,

Jess
