"The level of care given was fantastic"

About: Spiers Care Home

(as a parent/guardian),

My mum had to go into Spiers nursing home in 2018, due to having an amputation and vascular dementia.

The level of care she was given was fantastic, not only was her health and well-being taken care of, the staff put on an amazing array of fun and games, entertainment and outdoor fun when weather permitted.

The meals etc she received were amazing.

All members of staff whom I came into contact with over mum's 5.5 years in Spiers were first class. Everyone was welcoming to myself and other visitors, we were always offered tea/coffee etc, made to feel at home and nothing was ever too much trouble for the staff, even though they are kept very busy.

As mum's guardian I was contacted and kept up to date over every aspect of her care.

When my mum first went to Spiers, I had never dealt with any care homes. I quite dreaded what was in store. However, from the very first time I visited and saw where mum would be going, I was very pleasantly surprised.

Instead of a dull gloomy atmosphere, I found Spiers to be bright and airy, very clean and with a relaxed, and pleasant atmosphere.

I actually came to see the staff members as an extended family, they were always happy to have a chat, and always extremely nice. I was very confident that my mum was receiving the best care possible. Which took a whole load of worry off my mind.

I will always be extremely grateful for all of the staff at Spiers, in the way they looked after both my mum and our family as a whole.

Sadly my mum had a massive stroke around 2 weeks ago, the staff at Spiers gave her excellent care whilst waiting for an ambulance. She passed away in hospital.
