I had severe back pain and had an appointment at my local surgery. I saw a doctor who was there for a year as my practice is a teaching one. I cannot praise him enough. He really listened to me, gave me a thorough examination, asked relevant questions and prescribed painkillers and applied for a scan for me. He also said that if anything changed or I felt worse to get back in touch.
Five days later I was in more pain and he saw me that day, asked another doctor for a second opinion, gave me stronger painkillers and chased up my scan. I had a scan the following week and a few days later had an emergency operation. After the operation I was pain free!
From the time I had my first appointment with him until I had my operation it was 3 weeks. I cannot praise him and the NHS enough. Thank you.
