"Wonderful care and empathy"

About: Queen Elizabeth University Hospital Glasgow / Gynaecology (Ward 49)

(as the patient),

I recently had a full hysterectomy. I had some curveballs since my pre-op assessment but I can honestly say the care I received has blown me away! From the pre op staff to the cleaning ladies everyone works so hard under extremely challenging circumstances. They work as a team. The anaesthetists put me at ease despite being extremely stressed and the surgeons will turn  me into a new woman. Then, finally the care on ward 49. I have elderly patients in my bay who need a lot of care and the empathy, care and compassion shown to them both has brought me to tears. Keep up the amazing work. Some might not show it but patients really need you so keep being you as you're all amazing.

Dear 1sherlock,

Thank you for you e mail, regarding your recent stay in hospital.

I will pass on your comments to the pre admission staff, the medical staff and also to the ward 49 staff.

It is always nice for the staff to receive good feedback and it is also nice that you have mentioned the domestic staff who often work in the background but are a very essential and important part of the team.I will pass your comments onto them as well.

I am happy you have found the staff empathetic and caring, which is exactly what we want to provide for all our patients, patient centred care for each individual.

I hope you continue to recover well after your surgery and thank you again for your feedback.

Best Wishes,

Christine Dunn,

Senior Charge Nurse,

Ward 49.
