"I know I am in the best of hands"

About: Queen Margaret Hospital / Urology Victoria Hospital / Urology

(as the patient),

Having had my enlarged prostate monitored for some time, my GP decided to refer me for further examination due to an increased PSA reading. I was seen at Dunfermline Queen Margaret Urology Department in just over two weeks. The nurse, Jane, explained I had been referred as an urgent suspect cancer case. She examined me and confirmed an irregular area of the prostate required further examination.  She referred me for an MRI scan which took place about two weeks later at the Victoria Hospital. I got the result in 5 days from Jane who explained I was being referred for a biopsy to further examine the MRI result. Two weeks later I have just returned home from the biopsy at Queen Margaret. I was taken care of by nurses Jackie, Karen and Robbie and the procedure was carried out by Dr Dyer.

If ever I had any misgivings about the state of the NHS this experience has certainly dispelled these.  The speed of the treatment process could not have been quicker and the care and professionalism of every one the NHS staff involved could not have been better. I am at the start of a journey and don't yet know where it will take me. But if the care I have received so far continues with me I know I am in the best of hands and am confident they will do their very best for me.  I am extremely grateful.

Dear Hi Ho Silver

Thank you taking the time to post your feedback on care opinion. It is really good to hear how streamlined your journey has been and also that the care and professionalism of all involved could not have been better.

I personally am delighted to have helped make this a more positive experience for you, and it was a pleasure to have done so. Jane, Karen, Robbie and Dr Dreyer will feel this way also. To make someone feel they are in good hands and that we have made a difference is what nursing and the NHS is all about.

I will share you lovely comments with Jane, Karen, Robbie and Dr Dreyer as well as the rest of the Urology team.

The team and I send our best wishes

Jackie
