Having had my enlarged prostate monitored for some time, my GP decided to refer me for further examination due to an increased PSA reading. I was seen at Dunfermline Queen Margaret Urology Department in just over two weeks. The nurse, Jane, explained I had been referred as an urgent suspect cancer case. She examined me and confirmed an irregular area of the prostate required further examination. She referred me for an MRI scan which took place about two weeks later at the Victoria Hospital. I got the result in 5 days from Jane who explained I was being referred for a biopsy to further examine the MRI result. Two weeks later I have just returned home from the biopsy at Queen Margaret. I was taken care of by nurses Jackie, Karen and Robbie and the procedure was carried out by Dr Dyer.
If ever I had any misgivings about the state of the NHS this experience has certainly dispelled these. The speed of the treatment process could not have been quicker and the care and professionalism of every one the NHS staff involved could not have been better. I am at the start of a journey and don't yet know where it will take me. But if the care I have received so far continues with me I know I am in the best of hands and am confident they will do their very best for me. I am extremely grateful.
