23rd January I had a heart pacemaker installed. The whole experience was extremely positive. Ten days prior an extremely helpful and knowledgeable nurse telephoned me and spent about 30 minutes explaining what would happen and making sure I was properly briefed, prepared and reassured.
On the day, the following deserve special mentions: the day-case ward nurse who looked after me most caringly before and after the operation; the surgeon who ran the operating theatre highly professionally and who managed to maintain a sense of humour whilst being firmly in charge without being domineering; The theatre nurse who took exceptional care to make sure I was comfortable on the operating table both mentally and physically; the radiology porter with whom I laughed all the way to X-Ray and back; the enormously cheerful lady radiographer.
I arrived about 08.00, all went exactly to time, I had no waiting between stages of the procedure and I was ready for discharge by 12.15.
Highly efficient!
"Friendly, highly competent, well-run."
