Following a sudden loss of vision dad was seen as an emergency via his GP who then arranged for an urgent appointment with i care opticians. Despite his vision returning he was given a thorough examination and referred to A&E with a suspected TIA
He was seen promptly and throughout, full explanation was given for his tests and examinations - really great communication from the admitting nurse, the doctor on call, radiographer and the discharge nurse who so kindly walked with dad out to my car.
The integrated system from GP -optician -A&E worked smoothly and highlighted the excellent services in Shetland ( we would no doubt still be waiting for a GP appointment off Island).
This whole intervention has enabled dad to access urgent preventative care to protect against stroke. I am so grateful to everyone involved.
