My Dad had blood clots diagnosed in Dec 2023 and after 2 ops to try and rectify he eventually had an amputation. In that time he was in QEUH Glasgow and Gartnavel General Glasgow.
In these hospitals he received excellent care from dedicated but under resourced teams.
All staff were kind, patient and had excellent knowledge and understanding of his needs. They treated him respectfully and considered his opinions and preferences.
The one thing that let his recovery down was the lack of daily rehabilitation and physio which I believe was due to lack of funding and resource. I believe his capabilities would have been much greater if he had received more rehab in hospital.
He is now at home with carers coming in 3 times a day. He may have been more capable of his own care if he’d had more intensive rehab in hospital.
"They treated him respectfully"
