"Journey from A&E to home"

About: Intermediate and Transitional Care / Community Discharge Service Royal Victoria Hospital / Accident & Emergency

(as a service user),

I attended A&E in the RVH. It was a long wait but the staff were helpful compassionate and professional under very difficult situations. Having moved around different wards the standard of care was so good and I felt supported. I then was transferred to Domnall care home were the staff helped me rebuild my confidence and strength. I went from confused and scared to move about to being able to get about on a rollator. With support from the OT Andrew I was able to improve and take over my personal care, medication management and getting about without a wheelchair. Andrew gave the staff and myself confidence that I could do this all and get home. Today I got home and I could not have done this without Andrew and the staff in Domnall. Thank you to all the professional and amazing staff along my journey.

Thank you so much for your lovely words in relation to the care and input you received on your journey from hospital to home. I appreciate this is a time of upheaval and the future can be unknown so I am pleased you felt supported through this. Andrew is part of my team and I have shared this with him so that he knows of the positive impact his input has had. Comments like this reiterate how worthwhile our input is and give staff such a lift. Thank you again and I wish you all the best in your continued recovery.

Dear Breda,

My name is Linsey Sheerin and I am the Divisional Nurse responsible for the Adult Emergency Departments at Belfast Trust. Thank you for taking the time to share your experience on Care Opinion. Despite the long wait thank you for recognising the care and compassion of our staff, who work tirelessly under very challenging circumstances. Please do not under estimate the impact your kind words will have on them.

It is great to read that you have made progress in your recovery and you are now home, I hope your confidence continues to grow in your own environment. It's true what they say "there's no place like home".

Linsey
