"Not offered a bed"

About: Forth Valley Royal Hospital / Clinical assessment unit

(as a service user),

Recently admitted to Clinical Assessment Unit with increased breathlessness and wheeze - slept 3 hours the night before admission - not offered a bed despite repeatedly asking to lie down.

Admitted around 7pm and eventually got to lie down after 1am - got 3 hours sleep - fold down bed removed and been sitting in a chair since 7am - unable to move about much as attached to oxygen.

Its 10pm, so tired, not got anywhere to lie down again, despite repeatedly asking for somewhere to lie down.

Feel ignored - not cared for - breathless - want to go home.

Dear Susan826

Thank you for taking the time to share your recent experience on care opinion.

I am sorry to hear about your very long wait for a bed and being asked to sit back out of bed so early in the morning. I can only imagine how uncomfortable this was when you are feeling unwell, breathless and tired. Please accept our apology for the distress this has caused you.

We only want the best for our patients and in order for me to look into this further for you could I ask that you contact me directly on 01324 567472 or email Pamela.scott@nhs.scot. This will give me the opportunity to review what has happened in more detail.

Best wishes

Pamela
