What I liked
Our son was admitted through accident and emergency after being involved in a R.T.A. After emergency brain surgery he was tranferred to I.C.U 3. We found the staff excellent with both our sons care and the care shown to ourselves. We were kept updated on our sons condition and procedures in a caring, sensitive and compasionate manner. As we did not live local the staff arranged accomodation at the hospital for us to be near to our son while he was in a critical condition. This in itself was very appreciated. He transfered to the H.D.U. / acute wards from I.C.U and again the staff were caring and always willing to talk to us and arrange for us to speak with doctors at times convienient to ourselves. Our son was transferred to a hospital local to us to continue his treatment and we were even contacted to inform us that he had left your hospital and was on route. Unfortunately the prognosis is not too good as the brain injury sustained is going to cause long term problems. I would like to give praise and thanks to the neuro team who fought to save his life and all staff involved in his care. I would also like to thank the secretaries of the doctors for their help in arranging and sending a medical note to us after our sons discharge. It could not have been easy as it was some weeks after my sons discharge. Both of the secretaries were most accomodating. I hope these comments can be relayed to the relevant parties and again Iwe thank James Cook Hospital for the care shown and given to both ourselves and our son.
