"Ready to start the rest of my journey"

About: Dame Carol Detoxification Service

(as a service user),

Upon arrival to Dame Carol Detoxification Service, I was feeling really anxious, not wanting to do the process.  I received a warm greeting from the staff upon arrival who were very helpful and made me feel at ease.

After a day or so of settling in, I through myself into the whole process.  Every aspect of the process has been helpful.   A lot of things I have learnt, I will take with me on the next part of my journey.

Food, staff and other tenants have all been amazing.   I can't explain how much it has helped me and where I am at now with my recovery, compared to where I was, prior to coming to this Detox, it has been amazing.

I have been making tea through my choice for everyone in the house including Staff, which made me feel good to have a purpose here.

Kerry will be sadly missed as she has been very helpful and been there for me if I needed someone to talk too.  She has been a breath of fresh air.  Every morning she comes in chipper with a smile on her face.    All the other staff have also been amazing too.  Dr Gale  has been amazing too, not only medicating us.  She has also spent time engaging in activities with the tenants including me. (I even let her, beat me at chess twice.)  All the staff have been amazing.    Even the big boss Steve, would engage with us in the service which has been helpful.

The fellowships meetings including AA, NA and CA along with the Inclusion volunteers were brilliant and gave me a lot of tools to work with, when I leave my Detox.

The second week felt like there was more going on as we are now having acupuncture if you choose to, as the Nurses have recently been trained.  Followed by meditation.

The group work journal has been useful to make notes and reflect with tools to work with.

The Chef has been great with what he has to work with.  Feel they should have more meat like toad in the hole or a roast dinner on the menu.  All desserts have been exceptional and freshly made. It would be good if we had access to an air fryer maybe and also for down time, access to an X Box or Playstation?

I would recommend this service to anyone seeking recovery from addiction.   Its that good here, it could be an Air B and B.
