"Humiliating experience"

In a lifetime of NHS care, some of which saved my life, I have never experienced such high-handed rudeness as at this facility. While most staff are friendly and helpful, there is also a culture of hectoring and bullying, where baffling and petty policies are enforced with needless aggression. I have been admonished for sitting in the wrong place, although it had been the right place on a pervious visit, and for having the temerity to try to discuss an appointment time with the receptionist, who was being perfectly friendly and helpful. The ever-changing rules are not explained by staff but are displayed in small printed notices, a curious choice in a facility dedicated to helping people with failing sight. At all times I was polite and respectful, but I was treated as if I was being unreasonable and felt humiliated by the experience. I would happily travel some distance to use a mainstream NHS facility as an alternative to this one, which seems to have become disconnected from normal behaviour.
