I had the joy of being cared for by the team on Ward 63 at the QEUH last year.
I've had plenty hospital stays before and, to be honest, being in hospital again was not exactly something I was looking forward to.
I was in ward 63 for 12 days after pretty extensive maxfax surgery and all I can say it was just a wonderful experience.
The 'tone' of the ward was just so uplifting. There's a lot of people in there preparing for or recovering from major surgery and the team made the whole atmosphere so bright and positive that it truly was a joy to be there.
Everyone was so attentive and had the brilliant knack of knowing when what I really needed was some quiet TLC, and when a bit of fun and banter were the best medicine.
Nothing was ever too much to ask.
I was actually a bit sad when it was time to leave them and go home!
There's so much negativity about what's not right in the NHS that it's only right that when this team does it so right they get praised to the high heavens.
"What a fabulous place to be"
