"I knew I was in good hands"

I recently attended day surgery Crosshouse for a robotic hysterectomy and wanted to express my thanks to everyone in involved in my care.

It was a seamless experience from admission to discharge and I have nothing but praise for all the staff involved in my care. I was treated with dignity and respect and shown care and compassion from every member of staff I encountered .

Dr Sokolova and Dr Martin have been a great comfort to me explaining the procedure beforehand,  and what to expect post op. they reviewed me before discharge and reassured me to get in touch if I had any concerns. I knew I was in good hands and felt safe in their care.

Dr Ravury also reviewed me post op and ensured I had adequate analgesia for home.

I was cared for by the nurses in day surgery and discharged after approximately 3 and 1/2 hours when I had met all the discharge criteria. I am so grateful for the care and kindness I was shown by the nursing staff. you are the best team ever!! Thank you.

My recovery was uneventful and I was able to return to work after 6 weeks on a period of phased return.

I experienced only a small amount of discomfort after the surgery, it's really not as scary or painful as people might expect it to be.

If you are fortunate enough to be well enough to be discharged home after your hysterectomy the same day, I would very much encourage it. It was so much more comfortable and relaxing recovering in my own surroundings, so I am grateful I had the opportunity for a same day discharge.

A big thanks to everyone involved in my journey that day (and since) it made what can be a frightening experience a positive one.
