Throughout the journey, I was seen by the lotus team. I couldn't fault the lotus team and, in particular, my midwife, Caitlin. She made our experience the best it could be with it being our first baby.
Our experience was positive until the end of the pregnancy when having to travel back and forward to Antrim instead of the maternity ward being in Causeway.
I travelled to Antrim, for them to confirm my waters had broke and send me home. I returned the next morning, 24hrs later with strong contractions and vomiting. The labour process was very prolonged, possibly unnecessarily. My waters had broke for 45hrs before my baby was actually born as result of emergency c section. Both myself and my newborn baby ended up with an infection and spent days in hospital after birth. My newborn's infection wasn't recognised until days later, even though I was receiving IV antibiotics.
I can't however fault how I was personally treated by the staff in Antrim hospital after I gave birth. I will however say the day staff were a lot more helpful than those at night.
Overall, my experience with lotus was second to none and my experience in Antrim could have been better, however with it being my first baby I have nothing to compare it to.
