"Treated with suspicion"

Unfortunately I had a poor experience on 25th January. The GP I saw kept on asking how I had got an appointment and asked ‘why are you here?’ At one point she stood across the room just staring at me. I had called the Purley Hub thinking that it was a walk in clinic. I had missed getting an appointment in my area. I had made it very clear that I was a Tadworth resident but was told that I could still get an appointment at the hub. I had explained this to the GP I saw but she did not seem to believe me and regarded me with suspicion. I am not entirely sure what she thought was going on but I was a genuine patient and did not appreciate being treated in this way. It was an unpleasant experience and left me feeling unsettled. I can only assume that she thought I was involved in some sort of ‘scam’ to get medication and then sell it on??? I have the right to be treated with dignity and respect when I visit a surgery.

I am so sorry to hear of your poor experience of the GP Hub on this occasion. Just for clarity, the GP Hubs are open to patients from both Croydon Borough and from further afield; we also accept walk-in patients presenting with urgent care need. I can only apologise that you were made to feel uncomfortable and assure you that I will speak to the GP you saw to address this.

Best wishes, Lynne Hughes, Service Manager
