My mother in law had two falls in one day. She has ulcers on one leg. She called us at 7:30am on the Monday to inform us of her 1st fall, we came across and managed to pick her up and assess she was ok, we left after a couple of hours as she was saying she was fine, we then got another call at 12:30 to say she had fallen again, when we arrived she was lying on the kitchen floor face down on top of her walker, I immediately called 999, they said that an ambulance was on its way, unfortunately an ambulance never came for her but one did turn up for a lady also in the same complex, my husband went to see the paramedics and they came in later and assessed her and she didn't need to go to hospital.
On Tuesday morning we had to come back early because my mother in law was anxious about her dressing on her leg was wet through. We called the surgery he was amazing, he told us that she needed District Nurses to come out daily and change the dressing, he was going back to the surgery to arrange this, we were so shocked as in 1 hour we had a nurse from the Urgent Response Team arrive to assess her needs, the same day we had equipment turn up from the Red Cross, we couldn't believe the speed in which things was happening.
The following day we had District Nurses (R06) coming out to re-dress the ulcers. Everyone has been pleasant and so helpful. We would like to thank everyone concerned in their great care and attention.Thank you.
