I gave birth to my second baby earlier this month. I went into it this time feeling more confident and aware of my choices. I had conversations with my midwife and consultants who gave me all the information I needed to feel empowered to make my choice about delivering my baby.
Unfortunately things didn't quite go as hoped for "plan A" but because of all the information I had I was able to choose to have a c-section which in those circumstances was better for me and my baby.
The consultant - Dr Yakeen - was great. I felt so reassured by the anaesthetist team - Stephanie and Ross- who made sure I knew exactly what was happening at all times. The midwifes - Charlie, Rachael and the others who's names I didn't note (sorry) - nothing was too much trouble and I really felt like they all wanted what was best for me.
It wasn't exactly how I wanted things to go but I wouldn't change anything now and I'm grateful for all the help and care from everyone involved in delivering my baby.
