"I'm grateful for all the help and care from everyone involved"

About: Borders General Hospital / Maternity care

(as a service user),

I gave birth to my second baby earlier this month. I went into it this time feeling more confident and aware of my choices. I had conversations with my midwife and consultants who gave me all the information I needed to feel empowered to make my choice about delivering my baby.

Unfortunately things didn't quite go as hoped for "plan A" but because of all the information I had I was able to choose to have a c-section which in those circumstances was better for me and my baby.

The consultant - Dr Yakeen - was great. I felt so reassured by the anaesthetist team - Stephanie and Ross- who made sure I knew exactly what was happening at all times. The midwifes - Charlie, Rachael and the others who's names I didn't note (sorry) - nothing was too much trouble and I really felt like they all wanted what was best for me.

It wasn't exactly how I wanted things to go but I wouldn't change anything now and I'm grateful for all the help and care from everyone involved in delivering my baby.

Morning whiskeyfq37,

Congratulations on the arrival of your new baby!!

It is disappointing when "Plan A" doesn't go to plan however I am delighted to hear that you felt that the conversations you had left you feeling empowered, safe and re-assurred by the teams.

I will pass on your kind remarks to the medical teams and midwives and I am sure they will be pleased to hear your feedback.

Many thanks

Leigh Wilson
