My daughter has hyperestatia which makes simple things like getting a filling or tooth extraction from our local dentist impossible.
We were booked into ward 1B Day surgery. We were due there at 11 am and although surgery wasn't until after 1 pm, within minutes of being booked in we were seen by one of the staff, Gail. She was extremely patient as my daughter's anxiety levels went shooting up when she came in with BP monitor. She was excellent at explaining everything to her (she's 13 so has a good understanding) and made sure she understood what would take place across the day.
We then met the dentist who was also lovely
2 play therapists who both wanted to ensure my daughter had everything she needed.
Then an anesthetist (Katelyn I think) in between all these specialists Gail kept popping in and out just to make sure she was ok.
After her op someone came and told us how everything went.
As soon as we got her back to her room Gail was back again to see she was OK. When she went off shift the next round of staff were in and out checking on her, one was nicer than the other.
We really can't thank them enough for the love and care they showed her and us across the day. They made what could have been a really stressful day for my daughter, really easy.
