"Made sure he was relaxed and reassured"

About: Dr Gray's Hospital / Ambulatory Emergency Care (AEC) Dr Gray's Hospital / Paediatric Unit

(as a parent/guardian),

My son had a head injury at school and needed to see a doctor. We went straight to a&e and were seen pretty quickly and taken straight to children's ward.

The doctor that saw us was extremely efficient, friendly and brilliant with our son, who was quite upset and scared. The way he dealt with our son to keep him calm and relaxed was brilliant. I also wanted to give my thanks to Jamie as he looked after our son brilliantly also. He gave him lego , biscuits and just made sure he was relaxed and reassured when it was obviously very scary for him. Jamie helped the doctor (I'm sorry I forgot his name) and just was all round fantastic.

We are just so grateful for Dr Grays children's ward as I have been there before for my daughter's breathing and they are just all absolutely amazing.  I just had to give a special thanks to Jamie.

Dear stoneqf53,

Thank you for taking the time share your son's recent experience in our Emergency Department and Children's Ward. Hospitals can be very scary places for children, particularly when they've had an unexpected injury.

Our teams pride themselves on offering a friendly, caring experience to children and I'm so pleased to read that this is how we dealt with your son. The whole team, especially Jamie, will be delighted to see your comments.

With thanks and best wishes to you and your son.

Kind regards,

Louise
